Skills training on the Exmoor Mires

The Exmoor Mires Project, working in partnership with the Heart of Exmoor scheme, Exmoor National Park Authority and other organisations, is looking for people to assist in surveying and maintaining peatland ditch blocks in Exmoor’s most remote moorland bogs.

Exmoor Mires logoDavid Smith, Project Manager for the Exmoor Mires Project said:  ‘Exmoor’s bogs are regionally and nationally important for water management, wildlife and carbon retention and we are appealing for volunteers to help us in caring for this important habitat.”

The first of a series of training events will be held on Monday 3rd March, starting from Simonsbath Sawmill. For more information on this event, and to book on to it please go to www.exmoor-nationalpark.gov.uk/communities/get-involved or call Patrick Watts-Mabbott on 07973 727469.

This event is supported financially by the Heritage Lottery Fund through the Heart of Exmoor’s project called The Changing Moorland.
