Volunteering Opportunities on Exmoor!

There are many ways to get involved with volunteering on Exmoor’s moorlands.

Crown Estate Volunteering Day

These Volunteers meet on the 2nd and last Thursdays of the month and may also occasionally help with events taking place in the Dunster area. Join Crown Estate Rangers from Dunster Estate to help carry out practical tasks around the Dunster area. Tasks include coppicing, charcoal burning, wildlife survey work, tree planting, swaling and foot path maintenance.

Location / Start Point

10.00am – 15:00pm at the Crown Offices, Dunster Marsh.

 National Trust – Holnicote Volunteering Days

These volunteers meet every Wednesday and Thursday. Join National Trust Rangers from the Holnicote Estate to help carry out practical tasks on the estate. Tasks include scrub clearance and burning, coppicing, footpath maintenance and fence maintenance.

9:30am at Holnicote Estate Yard

 South West Lakes- Wimbleball Lake Volunteering Day

These volunteers meet every Tuesday. Join South West Lakes Rangers to help carry out practical tasks around Wimbleball Lake and Haddon Hill. Tasks include hedge-laying, coppicing, scrub clearance and burning, green woodworking, footpath maintenance and tree planting.

9:45am at Wimbleball Lake Activity Centre

National Trust – West Exmoor Volunteering Days

These volunteers are full time and meet every day, Monday – Friday; local volunteers can also volunteer for one or two days a week. Join National Trust Rangers to help carry out practical tasks. Tasks include woodland management, dry-stone walling, footpath maintenance, fencing, and children’s events and guided walks.

Exmoor Mires Volunteering

Once a month, the Simonsbath volunteering group meets to carry out practical conservation tasks in and around Simonsbath; including dam building with the Exmoor Mires Project.
