Children delight Conference with their Exmoor poetry

The Exmoor Society was delighted to present two young budding poets with prizes for their winning poems in the annual Lucy Perry Award for Literature Competition at the successful Spring Conference.

From 112 entries received from five local schools, the Exmoor Society’s Lucy Perry Award for Literature in the junior category went to 10 year old Ruby Winzer from Dulverton Middle School with her poem ‘I Know a Place’.  Winner of the senior category went to 12-year-old Emily Coles from Kingsmead School, Wiveliscombe, for her poem ‘Up on Exmoor with my Dog’.  Both were presented with their awards by president Sir Antony Acland at the Society’s Spring Conference at the end of April in Dulverton.

The Exmoor Society hold the children’s literary competition in order to encourage children in and around Exmoor to appreciate the beauty of the place in which they live, and to write about Exmoor in poetry…
