Exmoor bolving – BBC Somerset interview

Listen to Exmoor National Park ranger, Richard Eales, explain why people impersonate the calls of Red Deer stags at this time of year! The roar of a stag is called ‘bolving’ and it’s a haunting, primeval kind of sound. There is even a Bolving World Championships, held each year on Exmoor.
