Promoting Exmoor Ponies

Moorland - the Heart of ExmoorA special project Promoting Exmoor’s Ponies was begun in 2011 by the Exmoor Moorland Landscape Partnership working with the Exmoor Pony Society and the Moorland Mousie Trust. Working together, we are providing ‘Exmoor Pony Experiences’, educational visits, and promotion at local events and country shows.

Grant money is available to support the free-living Exmoor Pony herds for which Exmoor National Park is so famous. An advisory panel, made up from representatives from the project partners, decides how grant funds are spent.

Our very own Exmoor Pony Officer, Linzi Green, coordinates the project alongside the Scheme Manager, Jason Ball. Linzi is an expert on the breed and an Exmoor Pony trainer. Her work includes liaison about the grants, and involves a lot of outreach work, which often involves taking an Exmoor Pony to community events and also to schools.
