A very misty Exmoor Perambulation

The voluntary stewards at the halfway checkpoint said 2010 had been baking hot weather during the Exmoor Perambulation, but 2011 couldn’t have been more of a contrast! Thick mist created very poor visibility, paired with drizzle and showers.

Heart of Exmoor’s Faye Balmond (Moorland Heritage Officer) and Jason Ball (Scheme Manager) were really impressed by the grit and determination shown by the walkers on Saturday’s event.

Thankfully the volunteers at Pickedstones Lane (near Honeymead Twogates) were armed with friendly smiles. In the tent behind them was hot food and drink by Exmoor Barbecues, and space to change into dry socks!

The sheer number of volunteers involved with the event was incredible – hats off to them all – and the organisers Exmoor Tourism Association and Exmoor National Park Authority.
