A new fund has been set up to encourage improved moorland management on Exmoor. Grants are available for projects that work towards this aim, for example, the purchase of fogging equipment or water bowsers to assist with regular swaling.
There is no prescriptive list of eligible items, each application will be assessed by a panel and judged on its own merit. Particular consideration will be given to those applications which aim to work with at least one other partner, offering greater value.
How much funding is available?
The total fund pot is £20,000. Small grants will be available for up to 50% of the project cost* usually to a maximum of £2,500. Projects must be match-funded through private sources, and this can include some in-kind contributions.
This discretionary fund opened on 14th Feb 2011. All applications go to a decision panel who will meet 6 times a year – every two months from March 2011 onwards.
